What was the highlight of this past weekend?
This weekend was a different type of weekend for me, my mom moved into her new house, and I spent the entire weekend moving boxes, furniure, and helping get my family settled into their new house. The old house was a peice of crap, it was built in the '80s and had many problems. The floor was rotting out, the cielings leaked, bascily the house was simply horrible. The new house isn't brand new but it is absolutly gorgeous, and it is quite a change, and I know my mom will be very happy with the house.
The highlight of the weekend was simply this, me and one of my sisters were going to pick up some stuff to move and we were all talking about past moves (which haven't taken place in over 10 years) and we started talking about how life use to be when my mom and dad were still together.
My parents got devorced when I was 11 and my sister was 7 and it is soemthing that I still have a hard time with 12 years later. I can barely talk about it with anyone without getting choked up and having to discontinue the conversation.
During the conversation with my mom I came out and bluntly asked her if she regreted devorcing my dad, and she quickly said that she does. She also said that she wished that dad would have taken her back when she went back to him. My dad has said to me on numerous occasions that he wished he would have taken mom back when he had the chance. When I told my mom this she had a look on her face that I don't think that I have ever seen before, her eyes got all big and glistened and her face had a indescribable expression.
My mother is a very strong woman, who I respect and love. It has been her guidance through life that has shaped me and put me down my current path. I have seen her cry, I have seen her happy, and I have seen her mad, but the look she gave me chokes me up even to think about it.
That look will never leave me, it will stick with me as long as I live.
