The job hunt has ended, I accepted a position with S.W.I.FT. which means that I will be moving up to Manassas. I know I said that I did not want a position up in Northern Virginia, but that seems to be where most entry level positions are. I start the job mid January so I have a little break after I graduate. Now comes the fun part of actually moving and finding somewhere to live. I would write more but I'm sick and just want to crash.
Sorry for the drought on the posts, I went up to New York for about a week, lots of fun, but I'll write about it later.
I made an avatar on the Simpsons Movie website what do you think?
I'm not sure if yall know that I am graduating in December. Finally after six years in college I am getting out. I have a hard time being excited. I am more scared of the future. I started looking for jobs at the beginning of this month. So far I have heard back from a handful of jobs each one telling me that either I am not in the running for the position or to try back about a month before I am looking to start. The problem is that I really don't know where I am going to live. Harrisonburg has a few tech jobs locally but I really don't want to stay here and I don't think I have a good shot of getting a good job here. I didn't get the best grades in college so it makes me question my ability to get the job of my dreams. I need to find something, I can go anywhere.
What other names did your parents consider for you?
My parents considered naming me Charles Henry after my mothers father. I like that name a lot, it is a common enough name but at the same time it stands out on its own. Instead my parents named me after my father, so I have the name Christopher Marcus Golding Jr. I am not a huge fan of the name because of how common the name Chris or Christopher is, I am always agitated when someone calls out Chris, because 99% of the time they aren't calling me they are calling another of the millions of other Chris(es) out there. When it comes to naming my own son one day I always thought I would continue the name and have a Christopher Marcus Golding III, which I think has a good sound to it, but I don't think I want to give another the same aggravation I have. Maybe my son will be Charles Henry, it sounds rather classy.
I am doing one thing that should defiantly help out my writing skills over the summer, I am taking a course on Technology and Writing where we are looking at the effects on Technology on literacy and society. So far the course has been quite interesting; we have discussed virtual communities and did a a small write up on Second Life. I detest Second Life and will write about my personal thoughts on it another time.
Though the class we are going to write three mini-research papers. I think I'm going to do the three on Vox, so far since we have talked about social communities I feel that Vox is a good place to look at. In all Vox is a budding virtual community/social network and I see it eventually growing to be something big. Its unique ability to allow groups to view certain posts, to communicate with groups all through a single interface, and to share media allows Vox to be extremely flexible and to cater to the needs of many different groups. I will try to continue to update my progress of my research paper as I continue to work on it.
So today I was reading a post on a Software Developers blog. The post was regarding college graduates seeking jobs. I felt that this would be a good topic for me to read since I am currently in that process. One of the recommendations he recommended was to work on improving your writing skills. I have always thought that my writing skills were pretty good. I may not be the most eloquent writer but I feel like I'm not that bad, but it wouldn't hurt to improve my writing skills. One thing that the gentleman had recommended was that you write a blog. Well I have this blog but really do not use it. I have a few posts recently but nothing meaningful. So my current goal is to get back onto blogging and write at least one thing everyday. I know I've said that I was going to do this a couple of times so far but I haven't followed up with it. I am going to do my best.

You wanna hear a dirty joke?
A boy in a white shirt fell in the mud.
You wanna hear a dirtier joke?
He got back up and fell back down.
You wanna hear a clean joke?
He took a bath with Bubbles.
You wanna hear the dirtest joke so far?
Bubbles is the girl next door.
